"This place is a gem. If you can take a class with Madison, do it. She is fantastic. She is beyond helpful, friendly, and creative and it makes for such a fulfilling class. Her positive attitude and sense of humor are contagious. My girlfriend and I will definitely be taking another class in the future."

Reviews

"i have phobias toward all arts that aren't considered literary or musical. however, madison and mora helped me loosen up and expand beyond my artistic boundaries ... in my book, they were 100% class-act professionals, both as teachers and practitioners. there's no way i would have imagined that i could create this vase after only a few classes. also, my mom loved it"
"I had an incredible experience at Cracked Pot Studio! The class with my kids was not only educational but also a ton of fun. Heather, the teacher and owner, was incredibly patient and kind, creating a positive and supportive environment, even when my son was reluctant to try. My children loved every moment, and she even got me into creating some pottery of my own. I was impressed with the creativity fostered and the abundance of fun that we all had. Five stars for a fantastic studio with an amazing teacher!"
"Took the 4-week all-levels wheel class with three of my other girlfriends. It was Fantastic! Our instructor, Madison, was knowledgeable, hilarious, patient, and incredibly talented. I highly recommend it if you're interested in a fun experience that will give you a creative outlet and a chance to unwind. I look forward to signing up for another!"
"I booked a 1 hr clay date class with Heather. My boyfriend and I had a blast! Neither of us had done anything like this before. Heather did a great job of explaining and helping when needed. I would definitely do this for another date night again."
"Took a pottery class taught by Devin Hanson at Cracked Pot. The class was informative, very fun, and not too overwhelming for a novice like myself! Will definitely be back for more learning and fun!
"Had the most amazingly time learning from Heather and working in the studio. Cannot recommend it enough."
"I’ve been enrolled in a class this past month to refresh my beginner skills and the teachers here have been nothing short of amazing. Heather and Madison are patient and kind, answering my plethora of questions with knowledge and experience. They are so encouraging and have yet to say no to my elaborate ideas, and instead always give me the tools, time, and demos to further my ambitions. The studio itself is tidy and new, and the vibes are very zen. Highly recommend!"
"We had a beginner class tonight and it was so much fun! Heather is such a great and patient teacher, and we all learned so much from her and Nick. She is very knowledgeable, and so fun to work with. Also I absolutely love the vibe of the studio, and looking at all of the amazing pieces that are there. Thanks again Heather"
A picture I took of the cover of a children's book that tells a story similar to the one that inspired the studio's name.

The Story Of The Cracked Pot

"This beautiful story about accepting imperfections inspired the studio's name. I have cherished this tale since my Grandfather told it to me as a preteen."
-Heather Tourville (Studio Owner)

"A water bearer had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For two years, this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water each day. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. ‘I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you.’

The bearer asked, ‘Why? What are you ashamed of?’

The pot replied, ‘For these past two years I am able to deliver only half of my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house. Because of my flaws, you don’t get full value for your efforts.’

The water bearer replied. ‘As we return home, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path.’

As they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it somewhat. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its failure.

The bearer said to the pot, ‘Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path? I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you’ve watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my table. Without you being just the way you are, we would not have this beauty to grace our house.'”
